VaSCL Performance Matters Training

July 16, July 17, July 21, & August 5

The Virginia School Consortium for Learning is offering a one day, five-hour, Virtual Training in PowerSchool’s Performance Matters Platform at NO COST for one participant from each VaSCL division, as a service to our members.

This Performance Matters Training will follow a “Train-the-Trainer” model, so that the participant can assist in training other members of their school division.  Therefore, the participant who is registered should not only be “tech-savvy” and have a good understanding of the creation and use of assessments, but they should also be able to communicate effectively to other educators the information they acquire in this Performance Matters Training.

In order to accommodate different school division’s calendars, this “Train-the-Trainer” Performance Matters Training is being offered on four different dates: Thursday, July 16, 2020; Friday, July 17, 2020; Tuesday, July 21, 2020; and Wednesday, August 5, 2020.

The Agenda for each of the two virtual sessions (9:00-11:30 am AND 1:00-3:30 pm) in this Performance Matters Training appears below.  

At the bottom of the page, select the DATE of the Performance Matters Training for which the participant should be registered.  In order to keep these trainings interactive, each session is limited to twenty (20) participants.  

Part One: Performance Matters Training Agenda

Introduction to Performance Matters & Item Writing Session

9:00 - 11:30 AM

This train-the-trainer model session will equip participants with the information to assist other members of their division with writing standards-based assessment items in PowerSchool Performance Matters, using a variety of interaction templates. Participants will learn how to create multiple choice, extended text, side-by-side, inline choice, order, and numeric grid items, as well as how to include passages to augment interactions. Finally, participants will practice building effective rubrics and configuring scoring options for items.

Part Two: Performance Matters Training Agenda

Assessment Design & Delivery & Data Introduction Session

This train-the-trainer model session will provide participants with the information needed to assist other members of their school division build standards-based assessments in Performance Matters. Participants will explore effective assessment practices that provide a balance of rigor for all students while creating online assessments. Participants will also practice searching for and adding test items, customizing test layouts, configuring scoring options, and reviewing reporting capabilities within Performance Matters.
