Do you want to build a systemic action plan to effectively engage families in your school community? As a division, school, or teacher leader, you are uniquely positioned to lead necessary changes to create school cultures inclusive of every family, with particular attention to those families traditionally disenfranchised or disengaged from their children’s education. We know from evidence-based practices that disengaged families correlate with lower performance outcomes. Dr. Steve Constantino has developed a research-based model, “Five Simple Principles to Engage Every Family,” to help schools harness the power of family engagement as a direct conduit to student achievement. Engaging families will help close equity and achievement gaps and improve learning outcomes for all students, especially those who have traditionally struggled in school.
Join us for a full-day active-learning workshop to develop deep understanding of the “why” of family engagement, the value it brings to learners, and the outcomes that can be expected when processes are implemented with fidelity.
You’ll take away specific information and strategies that will help you to:
- Create a Culture that Engages Every Family,
- Use Effective Communication and Relationship Building with Diverse Families
- Empower Every Family (Family Efficacy)
- Deeply understand implicit biases that inhibit Family Engagement,
- Analyze policies, procedures and practices which may not be conducive to Family Engagement
Participants will:
- learn processes for implementing and measuring family engagement as a conduit to improved student learning.
- leave with strategies and sample goals, as well as an action plan format aligned to the Five Simple Principles, to engage every family and measure progress.
- have the opportunity to engage in a follow up virtual seminar (Zoom meeting) to ask questions and receive group coaching feedback from Dr. Constantino.
